CEREC 3 Single Visit Porcelain Inlays, Veneers, Onlays & Crowns. With the CEREC method there is usually no need for impressions or a 2-3 week wait for your crown to come back because the procedure is completed in a Single Visit! Your damaged tooth is prepared for the CEREC restoration which might be an inlay, onlay, crown or veneer. An optical impression is taken by simply photographing the tooth with a special computer camera. The restoration is then designed on the computer screen. Once the design is done, the computer instructs the milling portion of the CEREC machine to form a solid block of color-matched ceramic/porcelain to fit your tooth. The finished restoration is ready to be bonded into your tooth to complete the repair in just 10-20 minutes. Porcelain inlays and onlays can be an excellent restoration of a tooth that might otherwise require a crown for adequate strength. Frequently, large mercury-amalgum or "silver" fillings can lead to severe breakdown and fracture of your tooth. With bonding technologies, the tooth can actually be stronger than the original tooth with an inlay or onlay.
